(Bethany Beach, DE, July 10, 2026): (Editor’s Note: This is the tenth in a series of previews of the ten homes that will be on display during the 34th Beach & Bay Cottage Tour to be held virtually July 12 through August 2 and, for 8 preselected homes, in-person on July 22 and July 23.)
Inspired by a picture of a coastal cottage, the Owners began a search for a spot to build in Bethany Beach. The Salt Pond, with its abundant trees, open spaces, golf course and proximity to the beach, offered the perfect setting. This charming three-bedroom home, completed in 2023, was designed with an open floor plan surrounding a central space for gathering with family and friends.
The welcoming vibe begins with the friendly side door entrance into the sunny kitchen where a cozy patterned window seat and bold blue pantry door hint at the recurring shades of blue used throughout the home, much of it inspired by their collection of vibrant artwork. A comfortable seating group by the fireplace leads to a light-filled dining area set beneath a soothing blue shiplap cathedral ceiling. Nearby a spacious ensuite primary bedroom includes a private sitting room with direct access to a protected patio for morning coffee and a large outdoor area for casual entertaining. An ensuite guest room, powder room, laundry room and mudroom complete this level.
A distinctive Chippendale stairway leads to a generous family suite upstairs with an additional bedroom, double bunk area, bathroom and play area, perfect for their visiting kids and grandkids. An attached garage topped by a workroom provides needed storage and space for the Owner to pamper his vintage sports car. Every feature of this comfortable home, from layout to décor, has been designed to provide the easy coastal living that the Homeowners had envisioned for their family.

This week’s home is one of the 8 homes on the 34th Tour that will be available for in-person tours by holders of Combo tickets. And, like all 10 homes on the 2026 Tour, this home will also be available to be seen virtually by holders of both Combo and Virtual tickets. Each of the 10 homes will feature a professionally produced video which will offer Tour patrons an opportunity to view each home as often as they want from anywhere during the three-week virtual tour period. Special features include bird’s-eye drone video footage and the ability to view the Tour on any internet-enabled device.
