BEACH & BAY COTTAGE TOUR SNEAK PEEK #4

(Bethany Beach, DE, May 29, 2026): (Editor’s Note: This is the fourth in a series of previews of the ten homes that will be on display during the 34th Beach & Bay Cottage Tour to be held virtually July 12 through August 2 and, for 8 preselected homes, in-person on July 22 and July 23.)

Tucked away at the end of a scenic road in Fenwick Island, this week’s home rests on an idyllic bayfront lot.  While the owners enjoy the beach, they choose to live on the bay.  As they explain, “We aren’t up for many sunrises, so we prefer the bay for its sunsets.” Built in 1994, the house was renovated for sale by its second owner.  When the owners purchased the unfurnished property in August 2025, they looked past the wall colors, named the home “The Last Resort”, a playful nod to its location, and set out to make it their own.

The interior pairs coastal charm with a modern feel. A contemporary front door opens to a foyer with a lighted staircase and a striking pendant that draws the eye upward.  On the wall, a large framed nautical flag representing the letter “B” once flew on a ship and is now displayed as a tribute to their last name and a celebratory nod to the family’s dream home. The sunken living room with modern furnishings features sweeping bay views and a surfboard on the wall – one of several throughout the house – underscores its beach-inspired theme.  Throughout the home, white walls give a fresh, modern look while nautical and coastal accents add to its appeal.

An embroidered pillow reminds guests to “Slow down. We’re on beach time,” a sentiment the homeowners embrace. Expansive windows and two levels of decks frame the bay, with views of waterfowl, passing boats, and the peaceful rhythm of bayside life.  A shaded back porch invites quiet reading and easy conversation, while the yard offers shuffleboard. Downstairs, a cozy room serves as a space for puzzles, games, and watching TV.  In the spacious gourmet kitchen, a large 15-by-5-foot island naturally brings people together, especially for frequent girls’ nights.

This is just one of the outstanding properties that will be viewed by those who purchase tickets for the 34th Beach & Bay Cottage Tour. This week’s home is one of the 8 homes on the 34th Tour that will be available for in-person tours by holders of Combo tickets. And, like all 10 homes on the 2026 Tour, this home will also be available to be seen virtually by holders of both Combo and Virtual tickets. Each of the 10 homes will feature a professionally produced video which will offer Tour patrons an opportunity to view each home as often as they want from anywhere during the three-week virtual tour period. Special features include bird’s-eye drone video footage and the ability to view the Tour on any internet-enabled device.

The 34th Beach & Bay Cottage Tour is proudly presented by Leslie Kopp and The Leslie Kopp Group, and this home is also sponsored by Platinum Sponsor 84 Lumber.

Combo tickets are $50 and Virtual-only tickets are $35. The number of Combo tickets is limited and may be used either day of the tour, with a single entry permitted to each home. To purchase tickets or for more information, please visit the Cottage Tour’s website at beachandbaycottagetour.com.
