Fenwick Island Home with an “Ocean Peek”

(Bethany Beach, DE, July 3, 2026): (Editor’s Note: This is the ninth in a series of previews of the ten homes that will be on display during the 34th Beach & Bay Cottage Tour to be held virtually July 12 through August 2 and, for 8 preselected homes, in-person on July 22 and July 23.)

Since 2008, the Owners had owned a townhouse in north Ocean City and often visited nearby Fenwick Island for its excellent restaurants. Walks along Bunting Avenue, just a block from the beach, gave them a chance to meet friendly residents and admire the area’s distinctive homes.  When a lot became available, the Owners seized the opportunity to join the “Bunting Boardwalk” community. A business partner and architect-land planner created an initial design for the unusually wide, shallow lot, helping shape their vision for a Nantucket/Cape Cod-style home.

The Owner’s home reflects thoughtful design and expert planning. Aptly named Ocean Peek, the home offers ocean views from its top deck. In the foyer, colorful artwork, a turtle wall sculpture, and a striking light fixture that casts a sunburst pattern create a warm, inviting first impression.  Four well-appointed guest suites feature individual temperature controls which “keeps everyone happy”; a large family room includes a coffee corner for early risers.

The upstairs Great Room was designed around a handcrafted 9-foot live-edge walnut dining table with a metal base to prevent stubbed toes. The dining chairs helped guide the scale and placement of other elements, including rugs, recessed and pendant lighting, traffic flow, and decorative cathedral ceiling beams which visually divide the living space. A palette of light tan, dark blue, and crisp white unified the room and complemented the furnishings, beverage cabinet, and kitchen.

Throughout the home, the Owners use art to celebrate their travels. In the family room, a gallery wall of male portraits from countries they have visited is displayed in matching frames, making it easy to rearrange and add future photographs.  Nearby, a glass-enclosed, boat-style table filled with bottles of sand collected from distant beaches offers another creative nod to their journeys.

This is just one of the outstanding properties that will be viewed by those who purchase tickets for the 34th Beach & Bay Cottage Tour. This week’s home is one of the 8 homes on the 34th Tour that will be available for in-person tours by holders of Combo tickets. And, like all 10 homes on the 2026 Tour, this home will also be available to be seen virtually by holders of both Combo and Virtual tickets. Each of the 10 homes will feature a professionally produced video which will offer Tour patrons an opportunity to view each home as often as they want from anywhere during the three-week virtual tour period. Special features include bird’s-eye drone video footage and the ability to view the Tour on any internet-enabled device.
