BEACH & BAY COTTAGE TOUR SNEAK PEEK #5

Built for Entertainment!

In 2004, the owners purchased a beach home in a gated North Bethany community.  The owners loved the proximity to the ocean but they eventually realized their family had outgrown its home.  Their two daughters were now adults with a wider social network and the owners wanted more space for family, friends and “anticipated future family members.”  The home’s closed design was also stifling the Owners’ love of hosting large gatherings.  Guided by their experience through a prior renovation in 2009, they decided to raze the home and build a new one which was completed in 2022.

The new home’s design provides private, relaxing ensuite spaces to encourage extended family and friends to stay awhile and enjoy the beach.  The first floor has two bunk rooms which are comfortable places for adults but are also perfect for young families.  A large seating area with TV and fireplace, an open recreational space for ping pong tournaments, a nicely equipped kitchen and laundry, and a powder room complete the space.

On the second floor, the owners created a private space for their immediate family.   Both daughters have their own ensuite bedroom.  The spacious primary suite offers a quiet retreat from the activities of the day.  Its location also frees up space for their shared vision of entertaining guests on the third floor.  An office and small work alcove are furnished with unique live edge wood pieces crafted by him. An extra ensuite bedroom and laundry room complete the floor’s layout.

The third floor is a light and airy open space which offers many options for indoor and outdoor fun gatherings.   Large sliding doors allow light to stream in and maximize coastal views.  A swing up window by the bar area opens conveniently to the outdoor grill station.   Dining options for small and large groups include a beautiful long live edge wood table and a large kitchen center island with comfortable seating for six.  For alfresco dining, a covered deck and large screen porch awaits.  An expansive living room with many conversational and entertainment options set the scene for lively get-togethers.  For more quiet entertainment, her favorite place to relax is a “puzzle room” which includes a table for completing jigsaws, a console to store games, and two comfy chairs for reading.

The owners’ vision to create a home that “transitions smoothly between indoor and outdoor living” is beautifully realized and is the perfect design to start their family’s legacy home.

This is just one of the outstanding properties that will be viewed by those who purchase tickets for the 32nd Beach & Bay Cottage Tour.
